China Willing to Work with Us but Wont Accept Threats

China Open to Dialogue with U.S. But Rejects Threats, Says Official

China is ready to address mutual concerns with the United States through dialogue and consultation based on mutual respect, but it will not accept coercion or threats, a Chinese official said on Tuesday. This statement came after the U.S. announced an additional 10% tariff on goods imported from China.

Lou Qinjian, spokesperson for the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress, emphasized that trade between nations should adhere to World Trade Organization (WTO) rules. “Trade disputes should be resolved within the WTO framework,” Lou stated.

He criticized the U.S. for unilaterally imposing tariffs, stating that such actions violate international trade rules and undermine the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains. Lou expressed hope that both nations will meet each other halfway and find equitable solutions through equal consultation.

“History shows that the United States and China gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation,” Lou said. He added that a stable, healthy, and sustainable China-U.S. relationship is in the interests of both nations and aligns with the expectations of the international community.

Recognizing that differences are inevitable between two major powers with different national conditions, Lou stressed the importance of respecting each other’s core interests and major concerns. “The key is to find appropriate solutions,” he concluded.
