China Pledges Stronger Support for Global South Development
China has reaffirmed its commitment to the development and revitalization of the Global South, highlighting it as a key focus of the Global Development Initiative. Lou Qinjian, spokesperson for the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress, made the announcement at a press conference on Tuesday.
“Over the past two decades, countries in the Global South have contributed up to 80% of global economic growth,” Lou stated. He emphasized that the collective rise of these nations signifies a major shift in the world order.
As a developing country and integral part of the Global South, China shares a common destiny with these nations. “We have consistently been active participants and leaders in South-South cooperation,” Lou said.
China is extending development assistance to more than 160 countries and has partnered with over 150 countries and more than 30 international organizations to advance the Belt and Road Initiative. “We are doing all we can to support development across the Global South,” Lou added.
Committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind, China is accelerating the implementation of three major global initiatives aimed at promoting cooperation and development worldwide.
