China’s CPPCC Highlights Year’s Policy Achievements and Proposals

China’s top political advisory body, the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, kicked off its annual session on Tuesday in Beijing. Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a comprehensive work report outlining the committee’s achievements over the past year.

In his report, Wang highlighted that the CPPCC National Committee received a remarkable 6,019 proposals from its members, with 5,091 officially filed and an impressive 99.9% response rate. These proposals span a wide range of topics aimed at shaping policies and contributing to the nation’s development.

The committee also received a staggering 54,317 information submissions from various sectors, of which 11,323 were adopted. These submissions play a crucial role in informing decision-makers and ensuring that diverse perspectives are considered in the policymaking process.

Additionally, the CPPCC compiled and published 1,728 issues of information bulletins, providing valuable insights and updates on national concerns. The committee submitted 1,016 reports to leaders of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council, reflecting its pivotal role in advising on key policy matters.

Policy recommendations from the CPPCC garnered significant attention, receiving 819 instructions from national leaders. Moreover, there were 53 feedback reports from local governments and departments, demonstrating a collaborative effort between the central advisory body and regional authorities.

The annual session of the CPPCC National Committee serves as a platform for advisors from various sectors to discuss important issues, offer insights, and contribute to China’s development. The high level of engagement and responsiveness underscores the committee’s commitment to effective governance and inclusive policymaking.
