China has called on the United States to engage in fair and respectful discussions to address the fentanyl issue, urging against bullying tactics that could harm mutual interests.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized the importance of equality and reciprocity in negotiations. “If the U.S. truly wishes to resolve the fentanyl problem, it should engage with China on an equal, respectful, and mutually beneficial basis to address both sides’ concerns,” Lin stated.
Lin warned that if the U.S. persists with ulterior motives and attempts to undermine China’s interests, China is prepared to stand firm. He urged the United States to abandon any bullying tactics and return to the proper path of dialogue and cooperation as soon as possible.
The fentanyl crisis has been a significant point of contention between the two nations. China asserts that cooperation must be grounded in mutual respect to effectively tackle the issue.
