China has announced ambitious plans to strengthen its agriculture and revitalize rural areas, aiming to boost rural incomes and development. In a government work report submitted on Wednesday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the nation’s commitment to supporting its rural communities.
Speaking at the opening meeting of the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress in Beijing, Premier Li outlined strategies to enhance agricultural productivity and enrich rural life. “Continuing to prioritize agricultural and rural development, we will learn from and apply the experience gained from the Green Rural Revival Program in Zhejiang Province and improve supporting systems for strengthening agriculture, benefiting farmers, and enriching rural areas,” he said.
Premier Li stressed the importance of using “all means necessary” to raise agricultural returns, invigorate rural development, and increase rural incomes. This commitment includes consolidating and building on the country’s achievements in poverty alleviation.
The government’s focus on agriculture and rural areas is expected to have significant impacts on the livelihoods of millions of rural residents, promoting sustainable development and narrowing the urban-rural gap.
