China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao has praised the animated blockbuster “Ne Zha 2” for sparking a surge in moviegoing across the country. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Wang highlighted how the film’s success reflects a robust consumer market.

“Ne Zha 2,” the sequel to the 2019 hit, has attracted millions to theaters, contributing significantly to domestic box office earnings. The minister noted that this enthusiasm for homegrown cinema demonstrates the growing strength of China’s cultural industries.

Additionally, Wang pointed out that the first UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage-edition Chinese New Year celebrations have boosted inbound tourism. The unique festivities attracted visitors from around the world, further bolstering consumption and showcasing China’s rich cultural heritage.

The combined effect of blockbuster films like “Ne Zha 2” and cultural events has provided a significant boost to China’s consumer market, signaling positive trends for the nation’s economy.
