China’s Foreign Minister Advocates for Peace and Justice in the Middle East

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for renewed efforts to achieve peace and justice in the Middle East, asserting that Gaza is an inseparable part of Palestinian territory and belongs to the Palestinian people.

During a press conference held alongside the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress, Wang Yi emphasized that attempts to alter the status of Gaza through force will only lead to further chaos. “The will of the people must not be defied, and the principle of justice must not be abandoned,” he declared.

Highlighting the critical importance of the region, Wang Yi stated, “Without peace in the Middle East, the world will not be stable.” He underscored that the Palestinian issue remains at the heart of the Middle East conflict and requires a just and lasting solution.

China has expressed strong support for the efforts of Egypt and other Arab nations to promote a sustained and effective ceasefire in Gaza. The aim is to facilitate humanitarian aid and restore security and stability in the region.

At a regular news briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian reiterated China’s stance, stating that the principle of “the Palestinians governing Palestine” should be upheld in the post-war governance of Gaza. “This approach aligns with the two-state solution, with the ultimate goal of achieving peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel, and long-term peace and stability in the Middle East,” he explained.

Wang Yi affirmed China’s commitment to the region, saying, “We will continue to strive resolutely for justice, peace, and development for the people of the Middle East.”
