Xi Jinping Urges High-Quality Military Growth in Five-Year Plan

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for high-quality development in China’s military to ensure the successful completion of the nation’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). Speaking on Friday at a plenary meeting with the delegation of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the People’s Armed Police Force, Xi emphasized the importance of meeting the plan’s objectives for military advancement.

As the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, Xi highlighted the need for implementing the requirements for high-quality development within the armed forces. The meeting took place during the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress, China’s national legislature.

The 14th Five-Year Plan outlines China’s strategic goals for economic and social development, including advancements in defense and military capabilities. Xi’s remarks underscore the priority placed on modernizing the military to safeguard national sovereignty and security.
