Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has praised President Xi Jinping’s head-of-state diplomacy over the past year, highlighting its significant impact on global solidarity and cooperation.
At a press conference on Friday during the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress in Beijing, Wang Yi remarked that President Xi personally planned and conducted diplomacy efforts that achieved “many fruitful results.”
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted three monumental events hosted by China last year:
- The Conference Marking the 70th Anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence
- The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit
- The China-Arab States Cooperation Forum
He stated that these events set a new benchmark for the Global South to join hands for common progress.
“The four overseas visits by President Xi also generated new dynamism for global solidarity and cooperation,” Wang Yi added.
As the leader of a major country and a large political party, President Xi has demonstrated global vision and shouldered the responsibility of our times, leading China’s diplomacy in upholding fundamental principles, breaking new ground, and making steady progress. According to Wang Yi, China’s relations with the world have undergone positive and profound changes as a result.
Looking ahead, Wang Yi announced that in 2025, China will host a series of major events, and the country’s head-of-state diplomacy will “write a new chapter of mutual progress and achievement with the world.”
