Cgtn Poll Chinas Major country Diplomacy Earns Global Praise

China’s Diplomacy Shines in Global Poll, Wins Youth Praise

“China and the world advance towards each other, achieving mutual success!” exclaimed Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and minister of foreign affairs, during a press conference at the Two Sessions on Friday. In a world facing change and turmoil, China is helping bring stability, he noted.

A recent poll conducted by CGTN across 44 countries, with over 32,000 respondents, reveals widespread global appreciation for China’s unique approach to major-country diplomacy. Participants expressed high expectations for China to play a greater role in global governance and in building a fairer, more equitable international order.

The “China Favorability” survey, now in its second year, shows a significant improvement in the country’s national image. An impressive 89% of respondents view China as a successful country, a rise of 4.8 percentage points from the previous year. Additionally, 77.8% believe China is a country worthy of respect, up by 1.3 percentage points. Recognition of China’s international influence surged, with 87.2% noting its significant rise—a boost of 8.4 percentage points.

Not only has favorability increased, but so has the willingness to visit China. Over two years, those considering China an attractive destination grew by 14.8 percentage points, reaching 72.7%.

This positive shift is attributed to China’s concrete actions on the global stage: mediating the restoration of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, promoting reconciliation among Palestinian factions, advancing the historic expansion of the BRICS mechanism, and supporting the African Union’s inclusion in the G20. China has actively proposed solutions and contributed wisdom to address regional and global challenges.

The survey highlights that 58.9% of global respondents acknowledge China’s efforts in resolving geopolitical conflicts, while 53.3% positively evaluate its contributions to addressing global humanitarian crises. Moreover, 73.9% support their countries’ participation in international cooperation projects and initiatives led by China.

As a key force in global governance, China is committed to promoting reform, building a community with a shared future for mankind, implementing global initiatives, and advancing world peace and development.

China’s diplomatic theories and practices received wide recognition: 87.6% of respondents endorse the Global Development Initiative, advocating for countries to focus on action and deepen practical cooperation. Additionally, 90.3% praise the Global Security Initiative, emphasizing respect for all countries’ legitimate security concerns. A remarkable 91.3% highly evaluate the Global Civilization Initiative, calling for the promotion of shared values like peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy, and freedom.

The survey was conducted by CGTN, in collaboration with Renmin University of China, through the Institute for International Communication of China in the New Era. Respondents hailed from developed countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Australia, as well as developing nations like Brazil, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and South Africa.
