China is gearing up to enhance resources and funding to support employment by 2025, aiming to build an employment-friendly development model, according to Wang Xiaoping, Minister of Human Resources and Social Security.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday during the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress in Beijing, Wang highlighted the government’s commitment to implementing proactive macroeconomic policies. “This year’s government work report promotes more financial resources to ‘invest in people,’ providing stronger support for economic growth and employment,” she stated.
Wang emphasized that China’s focus on high-quality development is unleashing new technologies, products, and scenarios. This diversification is stimulating the vitality of various business entities and entrepreneurial innovation, laying a solid foundation for stabilizing and expanding employment opportunities.
“China’s employment has gotten off to a good start this year, as data from the first two months reveals,” Wang said. She noted that in 2025, the country will see 12.22 million college graduates entering the job market, and it is crucial to maintain support for over 30 million people lifted out of poverty, as well as ensuring stable employment for a large number of rural migrant workers.
Wang called for efforts to build an employment-friendly development model, implement employment support programs, and improve the efficiency of matching people with jobs. “Driving employment through promoting entrepreneurship is key,” she added, emphasizing support for young people’s innovative ventures and for migrant workers returning to their hometowns to start businesses.
She announced that China will roll out a new round of policies this year to support youth employment, including tailored support for college graduates. The country will also strengthen training and support for elder migrant workers to promote employment and increase their income.
