China’s Top Advisory Body Holds Third Plenary Meeting

China’s top political advisory body, the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), held its third plenary meeting on Sunday. The gathering brought together national political advisors to share insights on important national issues.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the meeting. Senior officials from the CPC Central Committee and the State Council were also present to hear suggestions from the advisors.

During the meeting, 14 national political advisors presented their views on a wide range of topics. Tu Haiming highlighted the recent positive developments in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, emphasizing that the region can always rely on the support of the motherland. He stressed the importance of boosting cultural confidence and national identification among local residents to ensure the steady and continued success of the “One Country, Two Systems” policy.

Zhang Guanghan called for the swift establishment of a comprehensive cultural heritage protection framework. He urged improvements to laws and regulations, the development of new oversight mechanisms, and increased efforts to raise public awareness. Zhang emphasized that the entire society should participate in, support, and promote the systemic protection and unified oversight of cultural heritage.

Zhao Yingmin focused on environmental issues, calling for measures to modernize environmental governance systems and capacities. He highlighted the need to coordinate carbon emission reduction, pollution mitigation, green development, and economic growth to achieve sustainable development goals.

The CPPCC plays a crucial role in Chinese politics as a key advisory body that provides insights and suggestions on national policies and development strategies. This plenary meeting is part of the ongoing annual session aimed at fostering dialogue and collaboration among China’s political leaders and advisors.
