At the ongoing third session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), Chinese national lawmakers submitted a total of 269 proposals by noon on Saturday, marking the deadline for proposal submissions. The session’s secretariat announced on Sunday that it has also received over 8,000 suggestions from NPC deputies, reflecting active participation in the legislative process.
According to the secretariat, 268 of the proposals are related to legislative work, while one concerns oversight work. The proposals primarily focus on legislation in key areas, emerging sectors, and matters related to foreign affairs.
The deputies’ suggestions cover a broad range of topics, including boosting domestic consumption, promoting the application of artificial intelligence to drive economic growth, and protecting the rights and interests of private enterprises.
The secretariat is currently reviewing the proposals and plans to compile a report on their handling. This report will be presented to the session’s presidium for deliberation, ensuring that the deputies’ contributions are carefully considered in the legislative agenda.
