China Commemorates 100 Years Since Sun Yat-sen’s Passing

In a solemn ceremony held on Wednesday, the Chinese mainland honored the 100th anniversary of the death of Sun Yat-sen, a pivotal figure in China’s modern history. The event took place in Zhongshan Park, Beijing, a location named in tribute to Sun.

At precisely 10:30 a.m., representatives from various sectors of society in the capital stood in silence before Sun’s statue. The attendees bowed three times, paying their respects to the man celebrated as a great pioneer of China’s democratic revolution.

Floral tributes were presented by representatives from the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK) Central Committee, the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the Beijing municipal government, and the Beijing municipal committee of the RCCK.

Born in 1866, Sun Yat-sen played a leading role in the 1911 Revolution, which marked the end of over 2,000 years of feudal rule in China. His vision and efforts laid the foundation for the country’s transformation into a modern nation.

The commemoration not only honored Sun’s contributions but also served as a reminder of the unity and progress that he championed—a message that continues to resonate with people across the Chinese mainland and beyond.
