China’s Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen emphasized that stable, healthy, and sustainable China-U.S. economic and trade relations align with the fundamental interests of both nations and will benefit enterprises worldwide. He made these remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with Ramon Laguarta, Chairman and CEO of U.S. company PepsiCo.
Wang, who is also China’s international trade representative, highlighted the mutually beneficial nature of China-U.S. economic and trade relations. The two leaders discussed topics including bilateral trade ties and PepsiCo’s business operations in China, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
“China is confident in achieving its economic growth target for 2025,” Wang said, referencing the government’s work report. He explained that China’s recent policy measures to expand domestic demand and promote consumption will create more opportunities for foreign-invested enterprises like PepsiCo.
Wang also elaborated on China’s stance regarding issues such as the U.S. unilateral tariff hikes imposed on China.
Ramon Laguarta praised China’s pro-consumption policies, noting that PepsiCo is experiencing rapid growth in its food and beverage businesses within the country. He pledged increased investment in local operations and a deeper engagement in the Chinese market.
“PepsiCo is committed to playing a constructive role in advancing healthy and stable U.S.-China relations as a member of U.S. business circles,” Laguarta stated.
This meeting underscores the importance of strong China-U.S. trade relations and how cooperation between the two economies can benefit global businesses and consumers alike.
