The city of Wuxi in east China’s Jiangsu Province has transformed into a breathtaking sea of pink and white as the annual International Cherry Blossom Festival kicked off on Thursday. With over 30,000 cherry trees in full bloom, Wuxi is inviting the world to experience the magic of springtime.
Visitors from more than 30 countries and regions gathered at the iconic Yuantouzhu tourist spot, also known as Turtle Head Isle, to celebrate the festival’s opening. Originally starting as a Sino-Japanese friendship event in the 1980s, the festival has blossomed into an internationally acclaimed celebration of culture and nature.
“It’s like walking in a dream,” said Li Wei, a university student from Beijing. “The cherry blossoms are so beautiful, and it’s amazing to see people from all over the world here.”
The week-long festival is packed with events to delight attendees of all ages. A cherry blossom-themed fair offers unique souvenirs and crafts, while selected subway trains are decorated with cherry blossom motifs, turning commutes into whimsical journeys. Foodies can rejoice with around 100 local food-tasting activities, showcasing the best of Wuxi’s culinary delights.
The festivities don’t stop there. The 2025 Wuxi International Month also began on Thursday, featuring global events that highlight economic and cultural exchanges. Multinational corporations from Germany, France, Japan, and the Republic of Korea are participating in trade talks, emphasizing Wuxi’s growing role on the international stage.
“Wuxi is not just a city of beauty but also of opportunity,” said Mayor Zhang Jun. “We welcome everyone to experience our vibrant culture and engage in fruitful collaborations.”
Whether you’re a fan of stunning landscapes, delicious food, or cultural experiences, Wuxi’s Cherry Blossom Festival has something for everyone. Don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in this enchanting celebration of spring!
