Havana, Cuba — The vibrant city of Havana buzzed with excitement on Wednesday as over 100 guests from China and Cuba gathered for an event titled “China in Springtime: Sharing Opportunities with the World Global Dialogue.” The gathering celebrated 65 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations and focused on strengthening ties for a shared future.
Hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the event brought together influential figures from politics, business, academia, and media. Discussions centered on China’s modernization and how advancements in science, technology, and economic development could create new opportunities for Cuba and the broader Latin American region.
Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, highlighted the importance of global collaboration. “We are eager to share the development opportunities that come with Chinese modernization,” he said. “By leveraging our strengths in communication and technological innovation, we hope to build bridges with friends around the world.”
Hua Xin, the Chinese ambassador to Cuba, emphasized China’s commitment to openness and global cooperation. “This year, China’s Two Sessions reaffirmed our dedication to expanding high-standard opening-up,” Hua remarked. “As we celebrate 65 years of friendship, China is ready to work alongside Cuba to build a community with a shared future, bringing more benefits to our peoples and contributing to world peace and development.”
Fernando González Llort, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, reflected on the enduring bond between the two countries. “Our everlasting friendship has grown stronger over time,” he stated. “China’s support in areas like food aid, climate change, and energy security has been invaluable, helping us overcome challenges and break barriers.”
