China Confident in Cooperation with Japan and South Korea: Wang Yi

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed strong confidence in the future of cooperation among China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (ROK) during recent meetings in Tokyo. Addressing officials from Japan and the ROK, Wang emphasized the significant potential and achievements of the trilateral partnership.

“Cooperation among our three countries started early, has achieved many results, and holds great potential,” Wang stated. “It has played an important role in enhancing mutual understanding and fostering mutually beneficial cooperation.”

Quoting a proverb shared by the three nations, Wang noted, “A nearby neighbor is better than a distant relative,” highlighting the importance of close cooperation in an increasingly uncertain world.

“As China-Japan-ROK relations develop further, regional peace and stability will be better guaranteed,” he said. “As our cooperation deepens, countries in the region will be better equipped to respond to various external challenges.”

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the global war against fascism. Wang stressed that a correct perception of history is essential for building a better future.

He reiterated China’s commitment to working with Japan and the ROK to establish an accurate understanding of World War II history, uphold multilateralism, and safeguard the United Nations’ core role in the international system.

“China is willing to continuously promote cooperation with Japan and the ROK, contributing to regional and global peace and prosperity,” Wang concluded.
