Global Leaders Praise China’s Growth at 2025 China Development Forum

Beijing, China — At the 2025 China Development Forum (CDF) in Beijing, global business leaders hailed China’s significant contributions to the global economy and green transition.

Roland Busch, president and CEO of Siemens AG, highlighted China’s focus on high-tech innovation and high-quality growth. “The government of China is taking action,” Busch said. “China is changing the operating system of its economy to unleash new quality productive forces.”

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between companies and governments to tackle global challenges. “If we collaborate, we will turn challenges into opportunities. If we collaborate, we will create better lives, common prosperity—sustainably,” Busch added.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed China’s commitment to openness and international cooperation, promising to further expand market access for foreign investors across various sectors.

Ola Kallenius, chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, expressed confidence in China’s future. “China is our biggest and most important market,” he said. “We will take this opportunity to work closer and stronger with China.”

Kallenius revealed that Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce a new vehicle architecture for vans, with increased investment in their operations in south China’s Fujian Province.

Stephen Orlins, president of the National Committee on U.S.–China Relations, praised China’s efforts to boost consumer spending. He believes these moves could lead to more U.S. exports to China and stabilize global growth.

Daniel Andrews, former State Premier of Victoria, Australia, shared his insights on China’s role in the global green transition. “Formal Australia-China cooperation on decarbonizing heavy industries and advancing wind and solar technologies must be our next priority,” he said. “This isn’t just about our nations’ futures but the health of the planet.”

Andrews commended China’s progress in renewable energy and called for greater global recognition. He noted that while some countries focus on trade disputes, Australia and China are collaborating pragmatically toward global sustainability.

The theme of this year’s forum, “Unleashing Development Momentum for Stable Growth of Global Economy,” underscores the shared goal of fostering global economic stability and sustainable development.
