China and Japan Unite to Promote Asian Values

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda in Tokyo on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of promoting Asian values like harmony and empathy. Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the shared cultural similarities and intertwined interests between China and Japan.

During the meeting, Wang Yi expressed his appreciation for Fukuda’s support of China’s vision for a community with a shared future for mankind. He praised Fukuda for leading efforts in Japan to establish a cultural exchange institution aimed at fostering an Asian community.

“We hope that the Japanese side will work with China to maintain the political and public support for China-Japan relations,” Wang Yi said. “Together, we can push for the sound and stable development of bilateral ties and promote peace, stability, and prosperity in Asia.”

Fukuda echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the significance of deepening exchanges in people-to-people, cultural, and academic fields. He affirmed his commitment to promoting dialogue and cooperation, enhancing mutual understanding, and contributing to the improvement of Japan-China relations.

The meeting signals a positive step toward strengthening the relationship between the two neighboring nations, focusing on shared values and mutual interests for the betterment of the region.
