China has expressed its willingness to engage in dialogue with the United States to address mutual concerns based on equality and mutual respect. Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission, made these remarks during a meeting with Evan Greenberg, executive vice chairman of the board of directors of the National Committee on United States-China Relations (NCUSCR), in Beijing on Wednesday.
Wang Yi emphasized that China and the U.S. share broad interests and have vast potential for cooperation. He believes that the world would benefit if both countries could support each other’s success. He pointed out that China-U.S. relations are at a crucial juncture and called on both sides to follow the important consensus and vision set by their respective heads of state. Wang Yi urged for strengthened exchanges, enhanced understanding, avoidance of miscalculations, and proper management of differences.
He also appreciated Greenberg’s long-term commitment to fostering China-U.S. exchanges and cooperation. Wang Yi expressed hope that the NCUSCR and people from all walks of life in the U.S. would contribute to the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.
Evan Greenberg, for his part, stressed that the U.S.-China relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world. He called for both sides to use their experience and wisdom to enhance understanding, expand cooperation, and live in harmony.
