A total of 9,160 suggestions made by China’s national lawmakers are moving forward toward implementation, according to a meeting held in Beijing on Wednesday. These suggestions have been distributed to 211 organizations for processing, marking significant progress in the country’s policy-making efforts.
The suggestions were submitted by deputies to the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), China’s top legislature, during the third session of the 14th NPC held earlier this month. An analysis revealed that the top three areas of focus among these suggestions are “science, education, health, and sports,” “development planning and comprehensive economy-related matters,” and “social and public affairs.” Together, these areas account for nearly half of all suggestions, highlighting the lawmakers’ dedication to advancing key sectors that directly impact people’s lives.
Li Hongzhong, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He urged the organizations to process each suggestion with high quality and efficiency, emphasizing the importance of addressing the concerns and proposals of the deputies.
Over the past year, significant achievements have been made in handling suggestions from deputies. With joint efforts from various parties, all 9,235 suggestions submitted during the second session of the 14th NPC have been processed and responded to, with deputies generally satisfied with the outcomes. This progress reflects the effectiveness of China’s legislative process and its commitment to implementing policies that benefit the nation.
The proactive approach to handling these suggestions demonstrates the government’s responsiveness to the needs and ideas of lawmakers representing the people. As the new suggestions move toward implementation, they are expected to bring positive changes in science, education, health, sports, economic planning, and social affairs, contributing to the country’s development goals.
