Boao Forum 2025 Opens in Hainan: Asia’s Future in Focus

The Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025 officially opened on Thursday in Boao, south China’s Hainan Province. The event brings together over 1,500 representatives from more than 60 countries and regions, including officials, business leaders, and scholars.

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang attended the opening ceremony, highlighting the significant progress made in building an Asian community with a shared future over the past decade. “China and ASEAN have established a comprehensive strategic partnership, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership has come into effect,” Ding said.

Under the theme “Asia in the Changing World: Towards a Shared Future,” the conference aims to address global challenges and promote regional cooperation. Ding emphasized the need for solidarity and greater mutual trust among Asian nations. “It is necessary to strengthen cooperation and champion Asian values built around peace, cooperation, inclusiveness, and integration,” he noted.

Ding called for promoting economic globalization through openness and integration, urging efforts to safeguard the free trade system and oppose trade and investment protectionism. He also stressed the importance of promoting prosperity through mutual benefit and improving people’s livelihoods by delivering on the Global Development Initiative.

Regarding China’s economic outlook, Ding stated that the country’s performance has been steady with a stronger outlook. “China is confident of realizing this year’s goals and will contribute to development in Asia and the world,” he affirmed.

He highlighted China’s commitment to innovation-driven growth, presenting opportunities not only for the country but also for Asia and the world. “Opening up is a distinct hallmark of Chinese modernization,” Ding remarked. “We warmly welcome businesses from all countries to invest and operate in China and share in China’s development opportunities.”

The Boao Forum for Asia, founded in 2001, is a non-governmental and non-profit international organization committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries closer to their development goals. The conference runs from March 25 to 28, focusing on building a shared future amid global uncertainties.
