China is stepping up its commitment to global cooperation in science and technology, aiming to drive shared progress and development worldwide. This announcement was made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun during a regular press briefing on Thursday.
Guo highlighted China’s recent advancements in various technological fields, emphasizing that these breakthroughs not only benefit China but also contribute to global innovation. “From digital networks to artificial intelligence, from exploring outer space to the deep sea, China’s technological achievements are delivering tangible benefits to people,” Guo said.
He referred to remarks made earlier by Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang at the opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025. Ding emphasized China’s accelerated push for self-reliance in science and technology, integrating innovation into both technological and industrial sectors.
China’s innovation-driven development strategy has significantly enhanced its capabilities, facilitating a smooth transition between traditional and emerging industries. Guo noted that this progress demonstrates China’s long-term development potential and its ability to navigate economic challenges.
At the BFA, global discussions focused on AI governance, digital capacity-building, and technological collaboration. Guo stressed that China’s advancements align with these global priorities, reinforcing the country’s role in shaping the future of technology.
“History shows that openness and collaboration broaden the path to progress,” Guo said. He outlined China’s ongoing initiatives to foster international cooperation, such as the China-Japan-Republic of Korea Innovation Cooperation Center and a joint AI innovation hub with Laos.
In a move highlighting China’s dedication to shared space exploration, Guo confirmed agreements with Pakistan to train astronauts. The China Space Station is set to welcome its first international crew member, marking a milestone in the nation’s space program.
“China will continue working with global partners to foster an inclusive, equitable, and nondiscriminatory environment for science and technology advancement,” Guo stated. “Our goal is to ensure that the benefits of innovation reach more nations and peoples.”
This commitment reflects China’s broader strategy to collaborate with other countries, promoting technological advancements that can address global challenges and improve lives worldwide.
