The table tennis qualifiers for the 15th National Games of China came to an exhilarating finish on Wednesday in Ningbo, located in east China’s Zhejiang Province. Top talents from across the nation battled fiercely to secure their spots in the upcoming prestigious event.

Men’s Singles: Dominant Performances and Nail-Biting Finishes

Sun Wen from Jiangsu showcased his exceptional skills by sweeping Zhou Yu of Hebei in straight games. With powerful serves and strategic plays, Sun controlled the match from the outset, claiming victory with scores of 11-8, 11-3, and 11-6.

In another highlight, Beijing’s Huang Youzheng overcame Shanghai’s Zhao Zihao in a gripping encounter. Huang surged ahead by taking the first three games 11-9, 11-8, and 11-3. Despite Zhao’s effort to turn the tide by winning the fourth game 11-9, Huang sealed the deal in the fifth with another 11-9 win.

Huang’s teammate, Xu Chenhao, endured a seven-game thriller against Heilongjiang’s Wei Shihao. After establishing a 3-1 lead, Xu faced a determined comeback from Wei, who leveled the match at 3-3. In a tense decider, Xu overturned a 6-2 deficit to triumph 11-9, securing his place in the National Games.

Women’s Singles: Straight Sets Victories and Intense Battles

On the women’s side, Jiangsu’s rising star Shi Xunyao delivered a commanding performance against Heilongjiang’s Che Xiaoxi, winning in straight games with scores of 11-8, 12-10, 11-6, and 11-4.

Hebei’s He Zhuojia also advanced comfortably by defeating Guangdong’s Yang Shilu in straight games. Meanwhile, her teammate Wang Tianyi faced a challenging match against Tianjin’s Liu Weishan. Wang, initially trailing, fought back to win the match in seven games, finishing strong with an 11-5 score in the final game.

Mixed Doubles: Final Pairs Confirmed

The qualifiers concluded with all 24 pairs for the mixed doubles event confirmed. Hebei and Tianjin secured the final two spots in impressive fashion. Hebei’s duo, Liang Yanning and He Zhuojia, displayed excellent teamwork to beat Fujian’s Su Yujie and Xiao Yujie in straight games, with closely contested scores of 12-10, 11-8, and 13-11.

Tianjin’s Hao Shuai and Liu Weishan demonstrated their strong partnership by overcoming Chongqing’s Yin Mengze and He Xiaoyu, dominating the match with scores of 11-6, 11-5, and 11-3.
