China and Bangladesh Leaders Meet in Beijing to Strengthen Ties

Beijing, China—In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Bangladeshi interim government’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Friday in Beijing.

The meeting comes as both nations celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties. Vice President Han highlighted the enduring respect, understanding, and support that China and Bangladesh have shared over the past five decades. “Our countries have broad common interests with similar development concepts and compatible strategies,” Han stated. “China is ready to work with Bangladesh to implement the important consensus reached by our heads of state, deepen political mutual trust, and strengthen practical cooperation in various fields.”

Chief Adviser Yunus expressed optimism about the future of Bangladesh-China relations. “Bangladesh is at a new historical starting point,” he said. “We look forward to continued strong support and help from China. We are willing to take the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic ties as an opportunity to further deepen and consolidate bilateral cooperation in various fields and elevate our relations to a higher level.”

The discussions between the two leaders focused on enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, infrastructure, and cultural exchange. Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained and in-depth development to bring more benefits to their peoples.
