China has pledged emergency humanitarian assistance worth 100 million yuan (about $13.78 million) to Myanmar following a devastating earthquake. According to Li Ming, spokesperson for the China International Development Cooperation Agency, the Chinese government has dispatched two rescue teams along with urgently needed relief supplies such as tents, blankets, first aid kits, food, and drinking water.
“The first team arrived in Yangon on Saturday,” Li said, adding that China will provide more assistance to Myanmar as needed.
The aid comes as Myanmar grapples with the aftermath of the quake, which has severely impacted communities and infrastructure. China’s swift response highlights the solidarity between the two neighboring countries during times of crisis.
