Xi Jinping Offers Condolences After Deadly Myanmar Earthquake

Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his heartfelt condolences to Myanmar’s leader Min Aung Hlaing following a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on Friday afternoon.

In his message, President Xi expressed deep sorrow over the heavy loss of life and property caused by the quake. He conveyed his sympathy to the families of the victims and those injured, emphasizing the solidarity between the people of China and Myanmar.

“China and Myanmar share a profound ‘pauk-phaw’ friendship,” Xi noted, using a term symbolizing the brotherhood between the two nations. “China is ready to provide Myanmar with the assistance it needs to support the people in the affected areas to overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes as soon as possible.”

Chinese Premier Li Qiang also sent condolences to Min Aung Hlaing, reinforcing China’s commitment to support Myanmar during this difficult time.

The powerful earthquake caused widespread damage across Myanmar, leading to power outages and disrupted mobile networks, particularly in Yangon. Many buildings have been damaged, and rescue operations are currently underway as authorities work tirelessly to assist those affected.
