China Media Group (CMG) has launched a new expert committee dedicated to studies on the South China Sea, aiming to foster peace and cooperation in the region. The announcement was made during a ceremony in Sanya, located in south China’s Hainan Province, where the Southeast Asia Perceptions Report on the South China Sea was also released.
Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, highlighted the organization’s commitment to being a promoter of peace, a recorder of pragmatic cooperation, and a driver of shared development in the South China Sea. “As the world’s largest and most diverse international media organization, CMG is dedicated to promoting harmony in the South China Sea,” Shen stated at the event.
Through key projects and communication platforms like the construction of CMG’s base in Sanya, CMG has produced influential programs such as Ren’ai Jiao: Teardrop of the Nansha Qundao and If Xianbin Jiao Could Speak. These programs have garnered over 6.2 billion views and sparked widespread engagement.
The establishment of the expert committee is seen as an innovative step by CMG to advance the building of a maritime community with a shared future. The initiative is expected to enhance dialogue and understanding among nations bordering the South China Sea.
Notable attendees at the ceremony included Fan Yun, deputy editor-in-chief of CMG, and Wang Bin, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and head of the provincial Party committee’s Publicity Department.
