Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a crucial leadership meeting on Monday, highlighting China’s commitment to environmental protection and anti-corruption efforts.

Strengthening Environmental Protection

During the meeting, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee reviewed new regulations on ecological and environmental protection inspections. These inspections have yielded positive results, with officials at all levels being pushed to fulfill their duties, major environmental damage cases being addressed, and numerous reported environmental issues being resolved.

“We must uphold and strengthen the Party’s leadership in environmental protection inspections,” the meeting emphasized. “By leveraging inspections as a powerful tool, we can hold localities and departments accountable for advancing the building of a ‘Beautiful China.'”

Advancing Anti-Corruption Efforts

The meeting also reviewed a report on the fourth round of disciplinary inspections launched by the 20th CPC Central Committee. It was noted that inspection teams uncovered problems within central Party and state institutions that require serious rectification.

With 2025 marked as a pivotal year for expanding disciplinary inspections, the meeting stressed the importance of implementing the Party Central Committee’s decisions to provide strong guarantees for advancing Chinese modernization.

Moving Forward

The leadership underscored the need for courage in tackling tough issues and persistently uncovering and addressing problems. By enhancing the effectiveness of implementing the Party’s decisions on ecological civilization, China aims to make significant strides in both environmental protection and corruption prevention.

The meeting concluded with discussions on other matters, signaling the CPC’s ongoing commitment to addressing critical issues and promoting sustainable development.
