The China Coast Guard (CCG) organized vessel formations on Tuesday to carry out law enforcement patrols in the waters around Taiwan Island, according to a statement by Zhu Anqing, spokesperson for the CCG’s East China Sea Bureau.
The patrols included drills such as inspection and capture, as well as interception and detention operations against unwarranted vessels, the statement said.
“Taiwan is a province of the People’s Republic of China. These drills are concrete actions to exercise legitimate jurisdiction and control over the island in accordance with the one-China principle,” the statement added.
