Chinese Military Holds Extensive Drills Around Taiwan Island

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command conducted extensive military drills around Taiwan Island on Tuesday, as part of efforts to bolster operational readiness.

According to a statement from the command, the exercises involved vessel and aircraft formations working in coordination with conventional missile troops and long-range rocket launching systems. The drills tested capabilities in air interception, assaults on maritime targets, strikes on ground objects, and joint blockade and control in the waters surrounding Taiwan Island.

“These drills are aimed at enhancing the troops’ abilities to carry out integrated operations, seize operational control, and perform multi-directional precision strikes,” the statement said.

The exercises took place in waters to the north, south, and east of Taiwan Island, demonstrating the PLA’s capacity to mobilize forces across multiple domains.

Such maneuvers highlight the importance of continuous training to maintain stability and safeguard national sovereignty in the region.
