The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command announced on Wednesday that it conducted long-range live-fire drills in the East China Sea. The exercises, part of the “Strait Thunder-2025A” training plan, focused on precision strikes against simulated targets.
According to a statement from Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the command, the drills involved practicing attacks on key ports and energy facilities. The maneuvers were designed to enhance the PLA’s combat readiness and capabilities in maritime operations.
“The drills achieved the desired effects,” the statement read, highlighting the success of the exercises in meeting their objectives.
The live-fire drills underscore the PLA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its defensive and offensive operations in the region. Such exercises are part of routine training to maintain the readiness of China’s military forces.
