Qingdao West Coast pulled off a stunning 3-2 comeback victory against Henan on Tuesday, keeping their unbeaten streak alive in the Chinese Super League (CSL). The thrilling match took place in Zhengzhou, central China’s Henan Province, and had fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.
Henan took an early lead 16 minutes into the first half. Frank Acheampong’s cross struck the hand of Qingdao’s defender Riccieli inside the penalty area, resulting in a penalty kick. Felippe Cardoso confidently converted, putting Henan ahead 1-0.
Qingdao fought back and leveled the score early in the second half. Duan Liuyu showcased his skill by neatly placing the ball into the bottom right corner with a precise shot using the inside of his boot.
Henan regained the lead in the 63rd minute through a collaborative effort by their Brazilian trio. Bruno Nazario delivered a cross from the right side, finding Cardoso who headed the ball towards Acheampong. Acheampong finished the play with a powerful header, making it 2-1.
The match reached its climax during stoppage time. In the 92nd minute, Henan’s defense faltered, losing possession in their own half. Qingdao capitalized as Xu Bin’s pass found Riccieli, who redeemed his earlier handball by scoring the equalizer.
Just a minute later, Qingdao completed the dramatic turnaround. Zhang Xiuwei unleashed a shot from outside the box that appeared to be both a shot and a pass. Gao Di seized the opportunity, heading the ball into the net and securing a 3-2 win for Qingdao.
With this victory, Qingdao West Coast sits second in the CSL standings with two wins and two draws from their first four matches.
In another match of the night, league leaders Zhejiang continued their dominant form by defeating Shenzhen 3-0 at home. Zhejiang remains at the top of the league on goal difference.
