China has pledged to continue empowering development through green energy and promoting cooperation via the blue economy, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun at a daily news briefing on Wednesday.
Guo highlighted that China’s dedication to green and low-carbon development is integral to its pursuit of high-quality economic growth. “Our commitment also serves as a driving force for global climate response and sustainable development,” he said.
In 2022, four out of every ten kilowatt-hours of electricity in China were generated by clean energy sources. As the world’s largest exporter of clean technologies, China contributes to 46 percent of job opportunities in the global renewable energy industry, Guo noted.
Emphasizing the significance of “green transition” and “blue contributions,” Guo pointed out China’s sustainable development cooperation with neighboring countries. “We have partnered with Vietnam, Thailand, and others on clean energy projects, and have signed cooperation documents on the blue economy with countries like Indonesia,” he said.
Guo called on all nations to share the responsibility of building a clean and beautiful world. He cautioned against actions that hinder international access to renewable energy. “Some countries are groundlessly targeting China’s green sector, which could lead to self-isolation and make it more costly for the international community and developing countries to access renewable energy,” he warned.
“We urge all parties to jointly create favorable conditions for international green cooperation and make greater contributions,” Guo concluded.
