China to Take Countermeasures Against Us reciprocal Tariffs

China Vows Countermeasures Against U.S. Tariff Hikes

China has announced it will take countermeasures against the United States’ new “reciprocal tariffs,” firmly opposing the recent U.S. trade actions. A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce made the statement on Thursday, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to safeguarding its rights and interests.

The U.S. revealed on Wednesday its intention to impose “reciprocal tariffs” on its trading partners, a move that has raised concerns about escalating trade tensions. The Chinese spokesperson highlighted that history demonstrates increased tariffs do not solve the United States’ internal problems. Instead, such measures harm U.S. interests and jeopardize global economic development, as well as the stability of industrial and supply chains.

“There is no winner in a trade war, and protectionism leads nowhere,” the spokesperson stated, urging the U.S. to cancel its unilateral tariff measures immediately. China calls for resolving trade differences through equal dialogue, advocating for a cooperative approach rather than confrontation.

The escalating trade dispute has significant implications for the global economy, particularly for developing nations in the Global South. As major economic powers grapple with trade policies, the effects ripple across global markets, affecting industries and consumers worldwide.
