China’s Ministry of Commerce announced on Friday a ban on exporting dual-use items to 16 U.S. entities, citing national security concerns.
The export ban targets U.S. entities that have been added to China’s export control list, according to a statement from the ministry. Dual-use items are products and technologies that can be used for both civilian and military applications.
“To safeguard national security and interests, and fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation, the export ban decision has been made in line with relevant laws and regulations,” a ministry spokesperson stated.
The ministry emphasized that these U.S. entities are engaged in activities that may endanger China’s national security and interests. “No exporter may violate the aforementioned rules,” the statement stressed.
This move reflects ongoing tensions in trade and technology exchanges between the two countries, highlighting the importance of export controls in international relations.
