China Launches Anti-Dumping Probe into U.S. and Indian Medical CT Tubes

China has launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of certain medical CT X-ray tubes from the U.S. and India, the Ministry of Commerce announced on Friday.

The investigation targets X-ray tubes and their inserts used in CT scanners with 16 or more detector rows, specifically those utilizing high-speed rotating anode targets driven by ball bearings.

These ball bearings are high-precision components made from high-temperature tool steel and solid lubricant coatings. They offer advantages such as high rotational speed, wear resistance, and heat tolerance.

According to the ministry, the dumping investigation period spans from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022, while the injury investigation covers from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2022.

The investigation officially commenced on October 13, 2023, and is expected to last for 12 months, with a possible extension as permitted by Chinese regulations.

Anti-dumping investigations are measures taken to protect domestic industries from foreign companies selling products at unfairly low prices, which can harm local businesses and employment.
