The China Chamber of Commerce of Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products (CFNA) has strongly criticized the United States’ recent implementation of “reciprocal tariffs,” labeling it an act of trade protectionism.
In a statement released on Saturday, the CFNA expressed its unwavering opposition to the U.S. tariff measures. The chamber affirmed its full support for any counteractions taken by the Chinese government to safeguard national interests and the rights of enterprises.
“The U.S. decision violates international trade rules and severely harms China’s legitimate rights and interests,” the statement declared. “It will not yield any economic benefits for the U.S. and will also disrupt global industrial and supply chains.”
The CFNA urged Chinese agriculture and food importers and exporters to stand united, enhance cooperation, and explore new opportunities in both domestic and international markets. The chamber emphasized the importance of solidarity in facing challenges posed by the escalating trade tensions.
The trade dispute has raised concerns about its potential impact on global markets, particularly in the agricultural and food sectors. Analysts warn that protectionist policies could lead to increased prices and reduced availability of certain goods, affecting consumers worldwide.
The CFNA’s response highlights the ongoing tensions between the world’s two largest economies and underscores the need for dialogue and cooperation to resolve trade conflicts.
