Shenhua and Port Draw 1-1 in Thrilling Shanghai Derby

The highly anticipated Shanghai derby between Shenhua and Port ended in a dramatic 1-1 draw on Sunday, leaving both teams tied at the top of the Chinese Super League (CSL) table.

Port, playing at home, took an early lead just five minutes into the match. Liu Ruofan seized an opportunity at the edge of the box, regaining possession and firing a shot past the Shenhua goalkeeper. The goal was a poignant moment for Liu, who scored against his former club.

Shenhua fought back valiantly. In the 18th minute, Li Ke nearly leveled the score, but his attempt clattered off the post. Moments later, Joao Teixeira also struck the woodwork, as Shenhua pressed for an equalizer.

The breakthrough for Shenhua came in the 82nd minute. Veteran player Yu Hanchao was introduced just a minute earlier and made an immediate impact. He connected with a diving header, sending the ball into the net. The Video Assistant Referee confirmed Yu was onside, and the goal stood, much to the delight of the Shenhua fans.

Tensions rose in stoppage time when Port’s Li Shuai received a second yellow card, reducing his team to 10 players. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Port managed to hold on for the draw.

Guoan Secure First Win of the Season

In other CSL action, Beijing Guoan notched their first victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Zhejiang at home. After three consecutive draws, Guoan delivered a solid performance, handing Zhejiang their first defeat of the season.
