Beijing, Tuesday — The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that China supports Russia in hosting trilateral consultations with Iran on the Iranian nuclear issue. The meetings are set to take place in Moscow from April 7 to 8.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that this expert-level consultation is a significant step toward advancing a political and diplomatic solution. “China firmly believes that resolving the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means is the only correct approach,” Lin emphasized.
He added that China will continue to communicate and coordinate with all relevant parties to find a balanced solution that addresses the legitimate concerns of all sides. “Our goal is to uphold the international non-proliferation regime and maintain peace and stability in the Middle East,” Lin said.
Regarding reports of the United States and Iran potentially beginning direct talks on Iran’s nuclear program, Lin urged all parties to strengthen dialogue and prevent further escalation. He called on the U.S. to cease threats of force and maximum pressure tactics, and instead demonstrate political sincerity. “Engaging in dialogue and consultation based on mutual respect is essential,” Lin remarked.
The Iranian nuclear issue has been a point of international tension, with various nations seeking a diplomatic path forward. China’s support for Russia’s initiative highlights the importance of collaboration in addressing global challenges.
