China has filed a lawsuit with the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) dispute settlement mechanism after the United States increased reciprocal tariffs on Chinese imports from 34 percent to 84 percent, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce announced on Wednesday.
The spokesperson stated that the U.S. tariff escalation gravely violates WTO rules. The additional 50 percent tariff not only compounds the issue but also highlights the unilateral actions taken by the U.S.
China is committed to safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests in accordance with WTO regulations. The nation aims to defend the multilateral trading system and uphold the international economic and trade order.
