China’s women’s football team delivered an impressive performance on Tuesday, defeating Thailand 5-1 to retain their title at the Yongchuan International Women’s Football Tournament held in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality.
The match kicked off with a bang as 22-year-old forward Shao Ziqin opened the scoring just two minutes in, receiving a pass from Zhang Xin and finding the net with her right foot. Shao doubled the lead ten minutes later, showcasing her skill with a superb left-footed shot.
The hosts continued their dominance in the second half when Zhang Xin scored from distance, extending China’s lead to 3-0. Thailand managed to pull one back in the 48th minute through Karnjanathat Phomsri, but China’s momentum remained unshaken.
Shao Ziqin completed her hat-trick in the 83rd minute with a powerful header, restoring the three-goal advantage. Wang Aifang sealed the emphatic victory with a late goal, securing a triumphant win for the Chinese team on home soil.
“I think our win is the result of the efforts made by the entire team,” Shao said after the game. “I thank my teammates for passing the ball to me, which provided me with chances to score.”
The victory not only highlights China’s strength in women’s football but also serves as an inspiration for young athletes across the nation and beyond.
