Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for stronger ties and cooperation with neighboring countries to build a community with a shared future. Speaking at a major conference in Beijing this week, Xi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in the face of global challenges.
“China’s future is closely linked to that of its neighbors,” Xi said during the Central Conference on Work Related to Neighboring Countries, held from Tuesday to Wednesday. “Together, we can create a better tomorrow.”
High-ranking officials, including members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Vice President Han Zheng, attended the conference. Premier Li Qiang presided over the meeting, highlighting the need to implement Xi’s vision.
The conference focused on China’s neighborhood diplomacy, stressing that the country’s vast territory and long borders make its relations with neighboring nations crucial for national development, security, and prosperity.
“Building strong relationships with our neighbors is not just beneficial for China but for the entire region,” Li Qiang said. “We must work together to address common challenges and seize new opportunities.”
The meeting called for viewing neighboring regions from a global perspective, enhancing a sense of responsibility, and advancing collaborative efforts. It also outlined goals and strategies for the next phase of China’s work with its neighbors.
For young people across the Global South, Xi’s message underscores the importance of international cooperation in an increasingly interconnected world. As nations navigate issues like economic development, climate change, and technological advancement, partnerships become key to mutual success.
By fostering stronger bonds, China aims to contribute to a shared future where countries support each other in achieving common goals.
