China and countries from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) are gearing up for the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, aiming to strengthen cooperation and tackle shared global challenges.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian announced on Thursday that preparations are underway for the significant gathering between China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
“Latin America and the Caribbean are an important part of the Global South and active contributors to global governance,” Lin said during a daily news briefing. He emphasized that CELAC serves as a vital platform for regional nations to enhance solidarity and coordination.
The China-CELAC Forum was officially launched in January 2015, and over the past decade, it has blossomed into a key mechanism for boosting political trust, aligning development strategies, and promoting cultural exchanges between China and LAC countries.
“The forum has played a positive role in elevating China-Latin America relations to a new stage characterized by equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness, and benefits for the people,” Lin added.
As the world faces unprecedented changes and increasing uncertainties, the upcoming ministerial meeting offers an opportunity for both sides to discuss development strategies, address common challenges, and amplify the Global South’s collective voice for solidarity and self-reliance.
“This meeting will provide stability and positive energy in a turbulent world,” Lin concluded.
