Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a heartfelt congratulatory message to the 9th summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which commenced on Wednesday in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
In his message, President Xi highlighted the rapid changes the world is experiencing, noting that the Global South—including China and the nations of Latin America and the Caribbean—is growing with strong momentum. He praised CELAC for its commitment to independence, self-reliance, and unity, emphasizing its crucial role in promoting regional peace, stability, and development.
“China-Latin America relations have withstood the test of international turbulence,” President Xi stated. “We have entered a new stage marked by equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness, and tangible benefits for our peoples.”
He expressed China’s readiness to deepen political trust, expand practical cooperation, and enhance people-to-people exchanges with countries in the region. “Together, we can set an example for South-South cooperation and build a China-Latin America community with a shared future,” he said.
President Xi also announced that China will host the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in Beijing this year. He extended a warm invitation to all CELAC member states to join forces with China in addressing global challenges, driving reform in global governance, and safeguarding world peace and stability.
“By working together, we can contribute wisdom and strength to the development and cooperation of the Global South,” President Xi concluded.
