Aaron Gate Sprints to Victory in Tour of Hainan Stage 4; Tsarenko Retains Yellow Jersey

Aaron Gate of XDS Astana Team clinched a thrilling victory in the fourth stage of the 16th Tour of Hainan on Thursday, showcasing his sprinting prowess in the final stretch of the race.

The stage spanned 190.8 kilometers, starting from Baoting and concluding in Dongfang, traversing the diverse landscapes of China’s Hainan Province. Riders faced a challenging course featuring four climbing points and two sprint points.

The excitement peaked near the finish line when Gate launched a decisive sprint with approximately 800 meters remaining, crossing the line first with a time of 4 hours, 9 minutes, and 31 seconds.

Petr Rikunov of Chengdu DYC Cycling Team secured second place, while Luis Carlos Chia Bermudez of Huansheng-Vonoa-Taishan Sport Team finished third, earning him the coveted green jersey.

Nils Sinchek of Parkhotel Valkenburg claimed the polka-dot jersey for his performance in the climbs. Meanwhile, Kyrylo Tsarenko of Solution Tech Vini Fantini maintained his overall lead, keeping the prestigious yellow jersey.

With several stages remaining, the competition intensifies as riders continue to vie for top honors in one of Asia’s premier cycling events. The Tour of Hainan continues to captivate cycling enthusiasts, promising more exhilarating moments as the race unfolds across the tropical landscapes of Hainan Island.
