Fifth China International Consumer Products Expo to Kick off in Hainan

Global Brands Flock to 5th China Consumer Products Expo in Hainan

The fifth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) is set to captivate audiences in Haikou, the capital of south China’s Hainan Province, from April 13 to 18. This premier event is drawing over 4,100 brands from 71 countries and regions, making it the largest consumer expo in the Asia-Pacific region.

Co-hosted by China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Hainan provincial government, the expo is a key platform for showcasing global trade and the latest in consumption trends. This year’s theme centers around innovation, highlighting sectors like artificial intelligence, low-altitude aviation, smart vehicles, and digital health.

Tech giants such as Huawei, iFLYTEK, and Tesla are set to unveil cutting-edge solutions, offering insights into the future of technology. In addition to the main venue at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, visitors can explore duty-free shopping zones in Haikou and Sanya, and even enjoy a yacht exhibition in Sanya.

The expo isn’t just about international brands; domestic exhibitors will showcase premium local products, emphasizing China’s rich cultural heritage and manufacturing prowess. A special segment of the event aims to connect foreign buyers with Chinese manufacturers through personalized investment matchmaking.

The United Kingdom takes center stage as the guest of honor, presenting 53 brands across fashion, beauty, home goods, health, and jewelry. Vice Commerce Minister Sheng Qiuping shared these details at a recent press conference, highlighting the expo’s expanded international participation and first-time innovations.

Other returning participants include France, Switzerland, and Ireland, all bringing high-quality consumer goods to the fair. Newcomers like Slovakia, Brazil, and Singapore are joining the expo for the first time. Global powerhouses such as Estée Lauder and Germany’s Volkswagen will also be exhibiting, emphasizing the event’s growing global reach.

“This year’s expo is set to be the largest to date, demonstrating the confidence of all parties in China’s economic development,” said Gu Gang, vice governor of Hainan Province. With 65 of the world’s top 500 companies and industry leaders present, the CICPE is solidifying its status as a must-attend event for industry insiders.

China’s retail market continues to show robust growth. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), retail sales of consumer goods climbed 4 percent year on year in the first two months of 2025, reaching over 8.37 trillion yuan (about $1.17 trillion). NBS spokesperson Fu Linghui emphasized the nation’s market potential, stating, “With a population of over 1.4 billion and a per capita GDP of over $13,000, China offers a market with huge potential, broad space, and great development opportunities.”
