President Xi Jinping Embarks on State Visits to Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia

Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to embark on significant state visits to Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia from April 14 to 18, highlighting China’s ongoing commitment to strengthening ties with its Southeast Asian neighbors.

According to a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson’s announcement on Friday, President Xi will visit Vietnam from April 14 to 15 at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Võ Văn Thưởng of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Following his time in Vietnam, President Xi will travel to Malaysia and Cambodia from April 15 to 18. In Malaysia, the visit comes at the invitation of King Sultan Ibrahim, and in Cambodia, at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni.

These state visits are anticipated to bolster diplomatic relations, expand economic cooperation, and enhance cultural exchanges between China and these Southeast Asian nations. Topics such as trade partnerships, infrastructure development, and regional security are expected to be high on the agenda.

President Xi’s tour underscores the importance of collaboration and mutual development in the region, aligning with the aspirations of young people in the Global South for greater connectivity and shared prosperity.
