China and Malaysia are embracing a new chapter in cultural exchange as Chinese television programs start airing on Malaysian mainstream media platforms. This initiative, launched by China Media Group (CMG) in Malaysia’s capital on Saturday, aims to bring China’s rich culture, modern development, and societal transformations to Malaysian audiences.
Over the next few months, ten acclaimed productions from CMG will be showcased across Malaysia, offering viewers a unique glimpse into China’s journey. The programs span various genres, from historical documentaries to captivating aerial scenery series, highlighting the nation’s diverse stories.
In a virtual inauguration, CMG President Shen Haixiong and Wong Chun Wai, chairman of Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama, emphasized the importance of media in fostering mutual understanding between the two nations. Shen expressed hope that these programs will help Malaysian audiences learn about China’s efforts in poverty alleviation and the warmth of its people. He noted that this exchange aligns with broader goals of regional stability and cooperation.
“These programs offer a window into China’s contemporary vitality and cultural depth,” Wong said. “They will deepen Malaysians’ connection to China’s stories and strengthen the bonds rooted in our shared history spanning centuries.”
The selected programs will be broadcast on platforms such as Bernama, Asian Satellite Television and Radio, Al-Hijrah TV, and 8TV. This collaboration marks a significant step in bridging cultural gaps and enhancing the longstanding friendship between China and Malaysia.
As global neighbors, both countries recognize the power of storytelling in bringing people closer. This TV program exchange not only entertains but also educates, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of each other’s cultures among young audiences.
